Take Me Home, James!

As of this moment, my parents, Bryan, and I are sitting in the little cafe in the Rochester airport and we are headed HOME!!!!! Praise God. Praise God. Praise God.

Although I am still pretty sore and having to keep up with pain and slight nausea, I am SO excited to be heading home today! I am beyond thankful for all Mayo has done for me but I am still always ready to leave when the time comes. And all I can say is that this trip home is no where even close to as horrid as the trip home was after colectomy so I won’t be complaining.

I was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning and got to spend a whole day resting at the hotel before we packed up to leave today. I showered by myself yesterday and the incision looks great. It already seems to be healing very well, thank you, Jesus. I slept pretty good last night and have no symptoms of infection or abscess which is what we were most concerned about. So as long as that doesn’t happen, I’ll be content to take my time healing.

I will sit down and share more details on the trip once we get home but for now, I am still fighting a little nausea and looking at a screen isn’t exactly the most helpful thing :). Thank you for praying for my surgery, thank you for keeping in touch with us, and please pray for safe travels today!

It may not be any warmer back home but it is home nonetheless!! So bring it on.
