The Body of Christ Rises Again

Hey all, it’s me, Kailen! I am here and feeling decent. Thank you, Jesus, cause that is a huge upgrade from how I have been feeling lately. So here I am, decent and loving it and ready to put up a little post. And since I am back and decent and posting, I figured I’d make my first post back a big one. So saddle up cause boy do I have a treat for you! πŸ™‚

So Sunday night we had a haircutting party at my parents house. Since I am starting chemo soon and will loose my hair again, a bunch of my close friends came over and the boys all shaved their heads while the girls got their hair cut as much as they wanted to. It was such an amazing night and I could not have felt more loved or supported by all the people who were around me.

I wish we could have had a party for all of #TeamKCT to be there so everyone could shave their heads and show support but seeing as that was nowhere near possible, luckily we did have a very dear friend do an amazing job documenting the night so you all could all see what went down.

The song in the video “Though You Slay Me” by Shane & Shane is enough to make me bawl all by itself, so that on top of watching the video is just one big emotional mess for me. But I pray as you all watch it that you can see the body of Christ moving here just as much as I can.

When Bryan and I came into another hard season, our family and friends did just what God called them to do as our brothers and sisters. They all stood up, locked arms with us, and have prepared to battle with us as we go trough yet another round fighting cancer with all we have. They may not be able to literally fight with us and they may not be able to be with us 24/7 as we battle, but even this one small act of cutting their hair… that alone is enough to let us know that they are with us and they are ready to battle till the devil goes down again.

So thank you to my parents for hosting, to Keri for cutting all the ladies hair, to Jarrod and my mama for buzzing the guys hair, and to Michael for doing such an amazing job capturing the evening.

Round two, here we come. Cancer, get ready for a fight.

  6. Kailen,

I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, but I am friends with Dani and Alex Weires so I have been exposed to your story through them. I just wanted to drop a note to let you know how touching and moving you and your husband’s and family’s strength is and what a huge testament that is to God. I am praying for you and your family, and just wanted to let you know that your love ad strength I am sure has touched so many, but it has surely touched me and I will forever keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
